Discover the traditional healing and magical uses of the plants growing on your doorstep alongside local songs and plant folklore.

Meet The Cunning Folk of Sussex, herbalist Sara Jane Glendinning and musician Jo Burke at The Coach House and join them for a fascinating herbal walk up Whitehawk Hill with folklore and traditional song. Celebrate the local plants of Sussex in the spirit of Nicholas Culpeper, the radical 17th century herbalist who strove to make medicinal plant knowledge accessible to all.

Discover with Sara Jane who runs Green Aprons how to identify the many wonderful healing plants that grow beside us. You will learn learn their medicinal uses today as well as their significance in local folklore and magical practices of the past. You will also be entertained with traditional folksongs that feature those very plants alongside stories of the people who sang them in the past, from local musician and leader of Brighton Folk Choir*, Jo Burke.

All this while exploring a beautiful and peaceful wilderness in the heart of Kemptown with stunning views acrosst the city that few locals even know exists…
